BOTY 2021

Rock-Jumping into the Spotlight!

BirdLife South Africa has chosen the Cape Rockjumper as its Bird of the Year for 2021. The choice was based on its declining population, endemism within a small area of South Africa, and its fantastic and rare habitat - Fynbos!

I am pleased to be involved with the rollout of the promotional materials, helping provide information for infographics and an ongoing series of articles for African Birdlife magazine with Alan Lee. I have also used this as the impetus for completing the Cape Rockjumper entry for Birds of the World.
